CRUSH

Crush is a monthly party built by Jen Lyon showcasing "Dance Bands We Love", a few bands that we are seriously crushing on -- Their music makes us feel like we're bathing in champagne and skipping through meadows. They don't make us dance like say, the cabbage patch or running man, but they move us all the same.

SXSW Recap of Crushes!

Welp, we thought it was never ending, but SXSW week is finally over.  There were tons of highlights, lowlights and even the need for a winter coat on Saturday. So before this week slips away, and we are with you on the dancefloor @ Cameo yet again, here are the top 10 bands I (Ruthie) saw at SXSW & hope to have at Crush someday soon :

1. Small Black @ Lovejoys

2. French Horn Rebellion @ Disco Brisket

3. Holy Ghost (singing live for first time ever!!!) @ Malverde

4. Woolfy @ Disco Brisket

5. Beach Fossils @ Disco Brisket

6. Twin Sister @ some place i don’t remember for @irockiroll party

7. Neon Indian @ Fader Fort

8. DâM-FunK @ The Lawn Party

9. Foster the People @ Disco Brisket

10. Bang Bang Eche @ Lose Control

Things I’m Sad I missed :

1. The Very Best

2. Toro y Moi

3. FM Campers

4. Bill Murray

French Horn Rebellion (hope to have them at Crush soon!!)

Favorite Meal :

San Antonion Bean Burger (with refried beans, tortilla chips, melted cheese, tartar sauce, salsa, beef patty and buns! YUM!)

Favorite venues:

1. Malverde - this place was amazing. Had absolutely incredible sound, and was half indoor/half outdoor in the coolest way that is impossible to describe without seeing. :)

2. Baby Blue Studio - Picture Brooklyn’s Silent Barn, transplanted in Austin, with a half acre yard, a tv/visual installation behind the stage with over 30 tvs, a bonfire, and a BBQ truck to boot! This place brought us back to our DIY roots and we loved every second of it.

A few of my favorite things :

1. The slew of surprise guests at the super secret Jelly NYC, iheartcomix, Mad Decent after parties including: Rosie Rockwell, Ninjasonik, Skerrit Boy, Major Lazer, Diplo, DJ Jubilee (the New Orleans Bounce dj, not NYC’s finest, (Jess) Jubilee), etc the list goes onnnnnnn…..

2. Fader Fort - WELL DONE! It was amazing. Loved the Korg room & Bloggers tent & EVR Radio on site. So rad.

4. Photoboooooths!

RAVE ON!
